SVETVINČENAT
In the centre of the southern part of Istria lies old town of Svetvinčenat. Svetvinčenat, Savičenta, Sanvincenti, three names for the same locality known through by the stone Morosini-Grimani Castle, which has been for centuries the symbol of the town, one of the most beautiful Venetian buildings in Istria.
Its visitor Svetvinčenat offers a number of recreational bike and walking pathways, the whole year accommodation in one of thirty country-tourism homes, excellent wine and genuine Istrian cuisine, developed hunting tourism and rich cultural heritage. In summer, in the Castle cultural events are held, the most important is: the Festival of Dance and Nonverbal Theatre. Near by the Castle there is the Renaissance Square, popular Placa situated. The place has five churches and the most famous is the church of St. Vincent, which dates back to the 12th century, housing the richest Istrian cycle of the Romanesque fresco works, the church by which Svetvinčenat is named.
